Ms. Looby is the Founder and Primary Therapist of Transformation Through Therapy (TTT); which was established in January 2019. TTT is a local mental health and consulting firm which provides a range of mental health services such as individual, relationship, and family counselling, professional development and training, and mental health consulting. TTT believes that positive mental health is the foundation for building a healthy and fulfilling life.
Ms. Looby has a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies and a master’s degree in Counseling for Student Affairs. She was also awarded a National Counselor Certification (NCC) from the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) in the United States and is certified in Trauma Therapy. Ms. Looby is a passionate mental health counselor who is competent in various therapeutic approaches and techniques; and is proficient in completing comprehensive psychosocial assessments and developing appropriate plans of care for persons accessing mental health services. She has worked with persons whose lives have been affected by multiple academic, social, personal, relational, and mental health issues; consequently resulting in adverse outcomes such as academic/learning difficulties, low self-esteem/worth/confidence, self-harming behaviours, substance abuse, illness, and strained family dynamics.
Ms. Looby’s approach to therapy is considered to be integrative. She believes there is no single approach that can treat each client in all situations. Counseling techniques must be person-centered and tailored to their individual needs and personal circumstances.
Ms. Looby held the position of Resident Counselor at the Directorate of Gender Affairs, for 3 years, where she provided direct counseling and crisis intervention to victims and families affected by gender-based and sexual violence (GBSV). In this capacity she also played an integral role in the establishment of the Support and Referral Centre (SARC) which opened its doors in June 2017; and is the first of its kind in the Caribbean Region. She also sat on the Multi-Sector Stakeholder Committee (MSSC) for the national Sexual Offences Model Court (SOMC) which launched in January 2019. Ms. Looby has represented Antigua & Barbuda up to an international level and has done extensive work with regional and international organizations such as UN Women- MCO Caribbean and United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
Ms. Looby worked at the Crossroads Centre, a locally-based international addiction treatment facility, as an Admissions Counselor; where she conducted initial pre-admissions assessments and facilitated admissions to the Centre.
Today, she continues to engage in her passion of providing mental health care and services to those in need, and advocating for improvements of mental health care systems and legislation at a national level.
